Can solar panel still generate electricity in snowy days?
Installing solar panel is a great way to save energy and protect the environment. However, for people living in cold regions, snow can cause major problems. Can solar panels still generate electricity in snowy days?
In response, Joshua Pierce, associate professor at Michigan Technological University, said: "If snow covers the panel completely, and only a small part of the sun's light passes through the snow and hits the solar panel, then the energy generated is obviously less."
"Even if there is only a small amount of snow on the panel, it will greatly reduce the amount of electricity generated by the entire system," he said.
With regard to these issues, research is currently being conducted on whether solar panels can continue to generate electricity in cold climates.
The loss is expected to affect the energy expenditure of solar users, but it will only have a serious impact on those who rely entirely on solar photovoltaic power generation and have not achieved traditional grid-connected power generation.
For most households and businesses that still have grid supply, the economic impact is limited. But in terms of improving the optimal use of solar energy, energy loss remains a problem.
